I have an elderly Compaq Presario CQ70-211EM notebook and an ancient Netgear VMDG280 router. I'm trying to set up a wireless connection. The notebook is wireless enabled and worked well in a previous life connecting to a BT hub.
I have all the necessary passwords, passcodes, PINs and so on but when I try to connect to the wireless part of the router, I get "WPS procedure times out".
Virgin Media are as helpful as a chocolate teapot, so any thoughts out there?

Dont use WPS, mainly because its not secure, but if you need to use it attempt to update the drivers on the laptop and then make sure the wireless card supports WPS.
