I am on a household network using an HP Envy 4500 printer. Printing from iPads is no problem, but printing from my desktop, which is also on the network, doesn't work. I call up the HP Print and Scan doctor and it seems to think the whole system is OK, but it won't print. I have most of my important files and information on this desktop, and not being able to print from it is a big problem. In most cases, I have to send what I want to print to myself so it can be printed from the iPad. Thanks.

No, I was afraid I'd lose what I have and end up with nothing working. I guess it's worth a try.

For giggles, I looked up Troubleshooting in the Control Panel and then picked Printer I was trying to use. It did a diagnostic scan and said it was not being shared with "other computers". It asked if I wanted it to make it share and I said yes. It wanted me to reaffirm I wanted to do that and I said yes again. It works again. I don't understand what makes it change. I can have it working and then the next time I need it, it won't work again. We'll see how long it lasts. Thanks.
