I hope you will forgive me if this question has already been answered in the past. I have looked but have failed to find a similar problem but the range of this site is huge. So here goes....
I have fitted a Sandisk SSD to a friends pc and cloned his 7 Home Premium 64bit onto it. So far so good. When I come to move the folders 'my downloads/documents' and all the other storage folders (his photo collection runs to over 7 gigabytes) onto his old one terrabyte drive now freshly formatted to NTFS I get a "server failed" message when I try to access them.
I realise he can simply create folders and access them via my computer but he is a creature of habit and wants to continue to use his tried and tested desktop icons.
I think what I'm asking is for help in redirecting the target of these icons to the big HD. Can you help please my credibility is in danger !!

For the location of Internet Explorer downloads go to Tools, View Downloads then click the Options at bottom left, will give a panel where you can change the drive/Folder to use.

Right click on the folder you want to modify, choose properties, then just change the target drive letter.

Thank you

Thank you Berton and AddRAM for the very fast replies. As I said it's a friend's computer and it's nearly 11.30 pm here in the UK. I'll try the solutions tomorrow and report back.
Thanks again.

Thank you to all who responded so quickly. The problem is now fixed. I shall look in on the forum quite often now I'm a member. With luck I may be able to contribute, but even if not I'll learn.

The only hitch with moving User folders is that if you use Windows Backup Imaging it will now want to include the data partition in the image. So you may want to use a different imaging app like http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/73828-imaging-free-macrium.html?ltr=I to save your backup image to use in place of reinstall.

If you want to still use Windows Backup Imaging but not include the HD data partition then move the User folders back to the SSD without copying their files, instead right click on each on the HD to add to the related http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/585-library-include-folder.html then set the default folder to be the one on the hard drive http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/595-library-set-save-folder.html
