hello Rachael and George look I know I keep on about corrupted files but this on the snip comes up and just one reference to it is mentioned here Some files cannot be repaired! - Windows 7

So I am just going to suggest what I did before and that reinstall WLM but the choice is yours of course.

ICIT2LOL: It was very interesting to read Bleeping Computers comments on the update KB3022345 which is causing so many problems. I think I'll try and fix this first to see if it solves the problem before I uninstall/reinstall WLM. I changed my HDD to an SSD at the beginning of the year, doing a clean install of Windows and don't relish the idea of installing another WLM again. It took me the best part of a day to sort out my emails and I didn't really enjoy it.
When computers work, they are your best friend. When they go wrong, they are the enemy.....
George: Yes, my firewall is very similar to yours - Allow/Block/Ask.

Yes I know I occasionally have to set up clean installs and reinstall WLM - I just choose the WLM from the Live list as the rest is just clutter to me.
If you have a cast of thousands like I do in my mail (I have three accounts two I keep for alternative purposes) and keep them cleaned out. Then if possible cut down the number you have in your major account the security listings for blocked sites etc will not change and then if the list is still massive then leave them loading overnight.

To be honest I usually install and set up the OS on a smallish SSD and then clone it to another so that if the clone goes ape then it is just a matter of swapping in the original drive with all your gear on - minus the newest emails and updates of course. Plus if you can winkle out that update then just hide it.

This of course does mean that you can afford to do that but I find a 250GB installed is plenty and it is cloned to a 500GB. But in all honesty you could do the first install on a spinner and use the more expensive SSD to clone to and prices are not bad right now. I particularly like the 500GB Samsung 850 EVO for the clone.

Now as I said it is worth thinking about because that one snip I sent is just one of a few references to it in your files. I am not saying George is wrong he might well be on the right track I am just suggesting an alternative.

Hello again guys,
I had a few days away from home and when I got back, I got the courage to do a reinstall of WLM. It wasn't the easiest as I have 11 (yes, eleven) email addresses - don't ask ..... but it's done and it's working OK now.
The SSD I bought was, in fact, the Samsung 850EVO 500gb. It's brilliant and I'd thoroughly recommend it to anyone buying an SSD.
So thank you both very much for persevering with me on this. We got there in the end!
I'll mark this as solved and I'm giving you both a rep point.
Thanks again for everything.
Kind regards, and until the next time - Rachel

Yes well I thought all along Rachael that would be the best thing to do I think I did mention it earlier.

Plus yes I use the 850 EVO's in all of my machines now and cannot wait to clone this 5400rpm spinner in the new laptop and then flip that into the machine because it is driving me nuts.

Plus remember you can use the Samsung Magician software to keep it in line.

If you have not seen it this is the bible as far as I am concerned as long as you don't mind losing some of the "bling" like transparency - you don't have to disable it but the option is there.
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/11728-optimize-windows-7-a.html (it tells you how to disable defrag in there)

Plus remember with the SSD to turn off defrag and make sure TRIM is enabled. TRIM is done by this
Make Sure TRIM Is Enabled for Your Solid State Drive in Windows 7 for Better Performance - you can copy/paste from the article;)
