Just updated from Windows Update, and got a WMP box for setup so I figured it was a new version and went through it. Now when I go to change the theme with a wmploc.dll file I used in the past, it does not work anymore.

Could anyone please help me with this?

I am on x64 and I replaced the wmploc file in syswow like the instructions state. I've restarted also. No change.

[Fix] Wmploc.dll Version Number Error While Opening Windows Media Player - Tweaking with Vishal

I actually got that when I replaced the system 32 wmploc file, but I put back the original after reading that to change x64 wmp, all I need to change is the syswow one.

So, would this still apply for syswow?

I also have it set to default to 64 bit wmp 12 and that seems to be working fine. Taskbar does not have *32 on wmplayer.

I replaced mine in System32 and SysWOW64 on my x64 system, then used the resource hacker method to change version. A Guy

Thanks for the replies.

Ok, it's working. I just had syswow replaced, but just now added system 32 also and did number 1 for the command prompt update.

I don't know which one did it, but it looks like both.

I don't understand this. Originally I had read that for 64, all I needed to change was syswow.

Either way it works. Now I know in the future:

Add x86 wmploc AND x64 wmploc PLUS command update or resourse hacker method.;)

Man I hate hacking! Even my iphone. It's fun to an extent after it works, geez.... So much work. Wish these things were just changeable out the box.
