Which partition should be active? The one with OS installed? I have already tried but still get black screen.

    I have only one disk.

I have 3 partitions (500 MB, 6000 MB, 925 GB). 1 and 3 are primary and 2 is recovery. Which one should I select?

If I select partition 3 and make others inactive I get Windows Home Premium OS is installed on C:
    Startup repair fails to succeed.

If I select partition 2 and make other two inactive I get Windows Home Premium OS is installed on D:
Setup repair repairs and then requests a restart. After restart I get black screen again.

    Please help!

This thread has been helpful but before I try changing the system I would like confirmation of the steps to take.

Drive 0: three partitions . OEM partition, Win7b (D) system, active, primary partition, and Data (E)primary partition

Drive 1: three partitions . Backup (B) primary partition, Data2 (F) primary partition, and Win7c (C) boot, page file, active, crash dump, primary partition

I want to move the system from the partition on Drive 0 to the Win7c partition on Drive 1 and retain the abillity to boot to either Win7c or Win7b partitions. At some stage in the future I will replace the current drive 0 with a solid state drive and reinstall windows 7
