No need to get in any big rush to respond this time of night but I just ran across something that I needed to ask your opinion about.

The PCMARK8 Technical Guide PDF (http://s3.amazonaws.com/download-aws...ical_Guide.pdf) , on page 6 of 90 under System Requirements states:
“Internet Explorer 10 or later required. Internet Explorer 11 recommended”.


Weell, Before when I ran The PCMark7 (twice) I was on the Firefox browser. Did not run on IE at all. Could this possibly be the reason why I solely got a score rather than what you stated "You should have 5 different tests to run in PCMark 8." Just a shot in the dark but worth a looksee. Jim

I don't think it matters. The separate Home, Creative, Work, Storage, and Applications tests are there to select which one to run when you first open PCMark 8 like in the screenshot I posted earlier.

Got there this time. see the mult tests ok. no after trying # 1 "home" & starting #2 then starting 3, I am getting the idea of whats being tested, and that.

So a question. What test do I need to use? The problem with PC2 I am experiencing is that its really slow to initially open. And also sluggish & slow in its general operation like from one web page to another. But for the same usage PC1 is snappy & perky.

So what do I need to test for using a benchmark program like PCmark8? Was thinking the HDD but given I really do not know, thought I ask to to see what ya think. Thanks, Jim

The tests will not help you know what is causing the slow issue. The tests are mostly just for benchmarking purposes.

It would be best to create a new thread for your slow issue to see if we can help get it sorted there. For now, you might see if troubleshooting with a clean startup may help to ID a culprit for the slowness.

Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup

Gaining ground. Started with your clean boot TUT. Then did another cleanout of things a bit more with Glary utilities. Kept running the cleanboot over over with no startups like in the old win95-win98 days to get $m used to nothing in the msconfig startup. Still works!

Your startup timer (Restart Time) pretty handy. Got my time down to 95 sec. on PC2, real close to the PC1 93 sec. Progress!!

Got a TUT (bet you do) on what one can eliminate in services? Big old list there but do not want to stop the wrong ones, and that.

You can use option 10 in the tutorial on the first page for more details about services. The yellow tip box in the tutorial referenced in option 10 will have more details for Black Viper's services recommendations.
