I'm still having a hard time understanding what a SSD is, even after reading wiki. Anyone think they could clear it up for me, or is that about as simple as it gets?

    Hello Shortman,

SSD (Solid State Hard Drive) is a hard drive that uses memory chips instead of spinning magnetic platters for storage. It is much faster than the standard SATA hard drives. For example: Patriot Memory - Products

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Ah, I take it I have no choice with my laptop. I always forget that most people have desktops, and you can really deck out a desktop, but my cheap laptop motherboard is unchangeable.
