As one more test, see if downloading and merging the .reg files for the .exe and .lnk (LNK) items in the tutorial below may be able to help. It will restore the default associations and registry entries for these file types.

Thank you again. I have merged the reg files. There wasn't any change yet but I thought maybe after a restart it'll work. I'm a bit tired so I'll try when I get up. I'll let you know. I appreciate your time and help! Be blessed! Amanda

    Still no go

Hello. I almost forgot to let you know. I tried opening files after restarting when I got up and I get the same results. I do appreciate your time trying to help but I have accepted just opening whatever program properties page and setting it to run as admin as needed. Thanks again! Blessings! Amanda

I'm sorry to hear that. Are you able to use Option 1 to "Run as admin"?

Thank you for reminding me. I had forgotten about Option 1 to the point I had to go back to the beginning to see what it was. So it's obvious I hadn't tried it yet. Until now of course. I just tried it on a few of the programs in the taskbar that I haven't already changed to run as admin in their properties and nothing happened. I am assuming I am supposed to press and hold control and shift at the same time as I left click on the program. I didn't get any kind of response. Thank you again! Be blessed! Amanda

That's correct. I'm sorry that wasn't able to help make it easier.

Sorry it took me a few days to get back here. I had some much more serious issues with my external hard drives constantly dropping from my WD MyNet N900 Router. No matter what I did it just kept happening until I finally couldn't access one of my external hard drives at all. I finally put them back on my desk connected directly they have no issues.

Anyway, I appreciate your help. This issue isn't actually that big of a deal it was just driving me nuts that I couldn't figure out what happened. I'm over it. Thank you again and be blessed! Amanda
