    Use with ZTreeWin

    Hi gurus all,
I have applied the method in the tutorial, which is excellent work, thank you.
However on one program, ZTreeWin, there is a minor irritation.
I have pinned the shortcut to the task bar so ZTreeWin opens with one click.
But its window is not active - I have to click in the window before I can use it.
I really want to click once and immediately be able to key in any command to ZTreeWin.
Is there any way to retain the focus on the opened ZTreeWin program?
    Many thanks, marcvarc.

Hello Marcvarc, and welcome to Seven Forums.

I played around with this in the screenshot below for this program, and it open in one click using this in the Actions tab under step 7 and 9.

    Hope this helps,

Many thanks for having a look at this, Shawn, and suggesting a solution.
I have recreated your method but it still doesn't work for me.
Yes you can open ZTreeWin with one click, but it still requires a second click in the ZTreeWin window to activate the window. Only then can you key in keyboard commands to ZTreeWin.
So that's two clicks, which is no improvement on clicking on the ZTreeWin icon once to open the UAC window and a second click on the Yes button in the UAC window.
But thanks for having go, cheers, marcvarc.

I don't think that there will be a way to change this since it seems to be specific for that program.

No UAC prompts on boot, no shortcut hacks or tweaks needed, Icon loads in tray.... IOW, the way an AV should work!!
I dumped Avira 3 days after I made this post. (3 FP's, NO help from Avira support on said FP's, 2 failed updates and unbearably LOOOONG successful updates, COUNTLESS "nag splashscreen" prompts BEGGING me to upgrade...and switched back to

    wait for it...

Micr$oft $ecurity E$$ential$ which is what I originally had and disliked. Months later, I find that I've become a fan of M$$E

    Go figure???

Welcome back, MSE is a good AV, stays quite and is there when needed.

I'm running MSE and Avast, great combination

Seems to be a lot of that going around, and much debate whether it's effective or not. I see by your specs that Resources would not be an issue on your machine, but for "most" average users...not so much.

Coincidentally (or maybe NOT??), I started a topic just YESTERDAY @ Bleepingcomputer on this PRECISE topic. Have a peek at it, PARTICULARLY the replies by Didier Stevens & the infamous Quietman7 and see if you'll still employ this tactic. I'd be interesteed to read your (or any other members') thoughts on the subject.

Just wanted to say Thank You for this tutorial, and to add a suggestion. If you want to run multiple instances of the application (like putty), you'll need to make one more change to the task's properties. Under the Settings tab, change the setting for

If the task is already running, then the following rule applies:

    Change the default value of:
Do not start a new instance

    to:
Run a new instance in parallel

    HTH,
    Helen

I tried the procedure on cmd. After I had completed the 24 steps, it worked very well (and I was exhausted - LOL ). The only thing I noticed is that when I now call cmd with this shortcut, it is initially not active - have to click on the cmd window to activate it. No big deal, but I thought I mention it.
