    Hi there Brink.
    I wanted to know if it's possible to do this trick for a software that I use... from the context menu like Notepad ++. I hate the bullcrap that it can't write to my Vista partition and I want to use this workaround for it. Is there a way?

    Hello Sébastien,

    Sure. You would just create the shortcut in this tutorial, then add this to the registry:

    Code:
    Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Notepad++]
    [HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\*\shell\Notepad++\command]
    @=”\”C:\\Program Files\\Notepad++\\Notepad++.lnk\” \”%1\”"
    Substitute C:\\Program Files\\Notepad++\\Notepad++.lnk\ with the full path that you saved the shortcut at instead though, but leave the same amount of slashes in it.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    This is great for the programs used daily.
    Easy to follow and worked the first time.
    Thanks

    hi,

    i do have problems creating a tasks with a "normal" user because of insufficient privileges. when i create the task with an administrator, then the normal user cannot run the task, because he's not allowed to.

    Hello Jacob, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    If you mean creating elevated shortcuts for programs, then the only way a non-administrator account can run them is to provide the administrator's password when prompted by UAC. Otherwise a Standard or Guest account will not be able to run anything that requires UAC permission to run as administrator.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

    hi brink,

    thank you for your answer.
    I tried to create a simple task running notepad.exe with a standard user. This works as long as i do not check "Run with highest privileges". When i check this option a dialog pops up asking for a user and the password. neither the standard nor the administrator user is accepted.

    Actually i wanted to run RMClock as a standard user

    You may only be able to run in an administrator account.
