    Hello Kimsland, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    Yes, DMEX and I work together alot on some things. He has been noted for pointing this out. :)

    That's pretty scary that it would be that easy for malware to bypass UAC with a script like that though.

    I hope that you will be able to get Windows 7 soon as well.

    Thanks for the reply

    Yes I do too. But with Chris Green displaying his Roadmap draft, I might just wait for Windows 8
    But that discussion would be off topic

    True, but I suspect Windows 8 may be a few years off for it.

    Wow! how in the h-ll did you figure that procedure out!

    You'd think that Microsoft would just provide a switch in the programs' properties or in program compatibility panel to just bypass UAC.

    In any case, i don't think that would work in my case since when the program installs, it sets itself up to automatically run after account login. I would have to substitute the executable for the shortcut in the registry somewhere i think.

    I guess i could delete the entry in the registry and then place the shortcut into the account startup folder.

    Now that i think about it, wouldn't it easier just to elevate the programs' priority in the registry?

    Hello Nelson, and welcome to Seven Forums.

    You might be able to elevate the program in the registry, but it will still not run at startup without getting a UAC approval pop-up unless it's a task like in this tutorial instead.

    @Brink

    Is there a way to get the shortcut I made to allow me to double-click a music file and have it open Winamp that way without asking for the UAC? The shortcut opens Winamp fine if I double-click on the new shortcut, but if I try to associate the mp3 files with it, it opens the command prompt box for a second, and then nothing opens.

    That's odd. Do you have WinAmp set as your default media player?

    Also, if you want to right click a music file, and have WinAmp open it, you can add a shortcut to the right click context menu for that function.

    Yep. I have Winamp set as my default for all of my audio files. Do you know of a way to get it to let me double-click on the mp3 where it opens it using that UAC shortcut?
