You can download either one depending on if you wanted it the SP1 in a ISO or EXE file.

The EXE file you can run while in Windows 7, but you must download the correct 32-bit or 64-bit version.

The ISO includes both the 32-bit and 64-bit version that you could burn to a DVD or USB flash drive to install from instead. The EXE would be easier to use.
Shaun what are the benefits of downloading this. Will it have to be uninstalled when sp1 in released.Im not really willing to download and install that just so my pc can say hello danny instead of welcome lol.Are there any real gains in having it now.
Thanks Danny
Danny,

Yes, the SP1 RC will have to be uninstalled before being able to install the final SP1 when it's released.

It would probably be best to just wait until the final SP1 is released in the first quarter of 2011, but it just depends on how much you want to change "Welcome" until then. Decisions decisions.

Ok final results are in.

Any Windows 7 edition other than Ultimate will need to have SP1 installed for this tutorial to work.

Not sure why, but this is how it turned out to be.

WOOO! It worked! My laptop just said Hello to me! Oh my goodness it feels so good to finally be finished with this! Thank you very much Brink and everyone else who helped. One thing I noticed is that on the bottom right of the screen, it says Windows 7 Evaluation Copy Build 7601. No doubt due to the SP1 RC. So I WILL have to uninstall this when the final version is released? I just want to be absolutely positive

EDIT: Okay nevermind about my question. I figured out the answer. I HAVE to uninstall this

You're most welcome guys.

Eric,

Yes, you will need to uninstall the SP1 RC before you will be able to install the final SP1 when it's released in Q1 2011. Yep, the evaluation watermark is from the SP1 RC. It will go away when you uninstall it later for the final SP1.
