    Hello again Shawn,

First off, I'd like to say that this site is amazing and my desktop is "sexy" now b/c of this site!
sevenforums.com = 5 Stars, 10/10 and all that other good stuff.

For my problem, I did "run as administrator" on Resource Hacker and "copy and replace" the modified file. Once again, it didn't work (In my created admin account "Eric")

So I did what you said and enabled the built-in administrator, using another thread to learn how to enable it thank you, and followed the steps. Sadly it still says "Welcome" instead of what I want it to say.

I also tried doing the "logging off..." and "shutting down..." messages too... multiple times... in both my admin account (Eric) and the built-in admin account... w/ no avail.

If it doesn't work than so be it, but any other advice will be gladly taken!

    -Eric

    Hello Eric,

I must admit that I'm not sure why it is not working for you since it works for me each time I do it.

Let's see what happens with Danny to see if we may be able to see something that may be common with you two.

    Hi Shaun

Thanks for getting back to me.Im stumped i have only 1 account on my laptop and its my admin acc. I opened resourse hacker as admin took control of the file. Ive followed loads of your tuts for changing icons, files sound effects (to be honest im a custom freak) and never been stuck like this.Ive tried loads of times now with no joy. Odd that Eric seems to be having the same problems.

Is there anything else you can think off.My next step it to run sfc/scannow reset my customisations and see if it works if i do that first.

    Thankyou Shaun

It is odd. I keep playing with it to see why it may not be working for you two, but I just can't think of a reason right now since it works for me each time I try it. I'll see if I can get someone else to also try it as well to see how it works for them.

    Ok Shaun
Sorry for the late reply was at work.Ran sfc and reset all my customisations, changed logon screen to default and tried again.Still no change in the txt. I cannot fathum it really odd this one. The only thing i noticed is when i copy the file to the windows folder i dont get a UAC prompt it just gives the option to copy and replace, dont know if this is relevant.Sure we will get to the bottom of it.

    Thankyou
    Danny

    Danny,

You didn't get a UAC prompt since you took ownership of the file in system32/en-US first.

Do you have UAC turned on at least to the default level though?

If not, turn it on, then try the tutorial again.

Eric, you might try this as well.

Alright so I changed the UAC to always notify me for everything even though it was already on default. It still didn't work when I went through the steps w/ the UAC always on. Just like Danny, the UAC prompt didn't show up for the copy and replace the original file w/ the modified file. This was with the UAC to always notify me. I did this only for my user account, not the administrator account yet

No, it works in either 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 for me. I wish that it was something that simple.
