    Stopping the loop

Peter, thank you very much for your efforts in creating this tutorial. I was able to bring back a computer from hell, (no matter what I tried, it didn't work) and have it up and running fine now. Hats off to ya!

Did it give you a message telling you that you have low disk space when you tried this tutorial? Or are you worried about trying this tutorial because you know you have low disk space? Just wanted to understand what you mean because it is a good question and I would like to know the answer also. I may run into something like this in the future and want to know how to proceed with it.

I get to step 10 and type dir, but it shows nothing at all in the config folder. Your tutorial doesn't say what to do if that happens. Please help!!!

Without the repair disk in, I wasn't able to see the files you can't see. I know there's a way and I will keep trying for you. The computer I fixed with this tutorial was a friends and I was on my last leg. If this tutorial didn't work, I was going to have to reinstall. Not sure why Peter hasn't answered here yet. You might try going to his profile and leaving a message or contacting Brink about this tutorial. Go to this tutorials avitar and click on it or under his signature picture Dzomlija, it looks like he has other addresses you could try. You should be able to leave a message. I will keep trying to see if I can't find a way to help.

Thanks Simono1. I wasn't able to leave Dzomlija a message for some reason. What about copying the files from the Users folder to a DVD or flash drive? I'm not very tech savvy, but I can follow directions if you're able to help me with that. At this point, if all I can do is get the files off the laptop so they're not lost, I'll call it good.

    KkksMm1,
I'm sorry, I am not sure about being able to save your files if you can't see them in the dir files... but please, don't take my word for it because I may be wrong. It was my first time ever trying this and I was on my last leg also. Please forgive me for not responding to you earlier, I've been pretty busy and just didn't know an answer for you. Can you ask Brink on this site? He has helped me a few times and is very good about getting back to you. Hope things work-out for you.

THANK YOU Dzomlija, you saved the day!!!

    THANK YOU Dzomlija !!!
Thank you so very much for publishing your solution!! My mother's computer crashed, would not reboot and stayed on that indefinite repair loop. She is an Enrolled Agent and has very important and sensitive info stored on her computer and was in dire need of acquiring some of that info. I tried almost everything and after much time being spent on those other remedies I finally came across your thread and it worked like a champ !!! So needless to say you are adorned in this house tonight!! Thank you so very much Dzomlija, may the Lord certainly bless ya!!! 2dalou

    Many many thanks

Recently hit this problem on a brand new model, I was pretty livid about possibly loosing all my data, I use it for University work and what not. I would just like to thank the absolute hell out of you for posting this. I was stuck in that loop for about 3 hours trying little different steps but your's worked first time.

Thank you so much man, you saved me a hell of a lot of trouble. Drinks on me.
