For my problem, I don't know why the System Restore doesn't work. It said that there is no Restore Point found???
I'm sure that the System Restore is "On" all the time, but somehow, all the restore points disappeared.
I tried the tutorial in this topic but I had to stop at the step 13 because of this:



I have a Backup file of Registry on my HDD.
My question is: How to fix the damaged Registry by using the Backup that I created earlier?

It's in .reg format because I exported directly via regedit.

Does anyone know how I may use command prompt to determine what process are operating? Or perhaps there is a recommended download or tutorial to help develop command prompt fu?

I went through the entire tutorial and everything worked as supposed to except...it didn't fix the problem. What went wrong?

the fail has progressed to a stage where it acts as if the rom is corrupted. Now I get no load response, F function responses.

I used a battery reset to reinitialize my pc, was able to get it to do a repair operation, which also somehow removed the UEFI but still managed to perform a repair. I know it removed the UEFI, because it wasn't in the bios boot options when I restarted the machine.

The machine seemed to be working fine, switching on and off as expected... but after leaving it off for more than a day, I'm unable to boot it, or even do a battery reset boot.

I've removed non essential components, and just put it all back together in an effort to test them... seems the memory may be linked to the cause, but I can't be sure about it since I've got no boot functionality, and I'm left to conclude that the rom chip is corrupted, that I had somehow gotten a nasty virus. Or that since it started at least immediately after the repair, that perhaps the rom chip may have been faulty?

Hi, I followed the instructions to the letter, everything looked good and I rebooted only to find a screen showing the following:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware blah blah...
Insert windows installation disc and restart...

Then below that it says:
File \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc000000f
Info: an error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.

The only option is to press enter and it reboots.
I can't access any of the options on the installation disc as it black screens after displaying the windows logo. So it's gone from bad to worse. All I want to do is reinstall windows and I cannot do that now. How do I edit the configuration data if I can't get to a command prompt? Any attempt to F8 and select one of those options ends in a black screen. Please help. Thanks in advance!

I have followed your instructions, but when I got to the page 10 when you look at the regback screen, all the files show 0 bytes.

What are my other choices?
