Hello Kain, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Doing steps 10 and 11 in METHOD THREE should allow it to be a normal startup after the restart.

You can also use any of the other methods in the tutorial on the first page of this thread to delete or disable the startup programs to do this instead.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Any ideas yet on how to get a windows VPN connection to automatically open on startup? I've tried all of the suggestions mentioned in this thread, but none of them seem to work for a VPN connection. The VPN connections I'm referring to are setup in the "Network and Sharing Center".

    Sorry, but no Knoxbury.

You might post this in the Network & Sharing forum area as well to see what ideas you might be able to get.

    XP's Default startup in Win7?

XP had a default startup menu under the default user. This allowed me to put an internet shortcut that opened for any new accounts. But it didn't startup for existing administrative or maintenance accounts already created. Is there a way to do this in Win 7.

Hello LabTech, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Does placing the internet shortcut in the Startup folder in OPTION TWO of Method Two in the tutorial allow it to run at startup to open the website?

Yes, but it does it for all users, including existing administrative and maintenance accounts. That is what I want to aviod. When students log on, their account is created with the default user that has the internet shortcut. At least, that is what I want to achieve. The existing accounts were created with a default user that didn't have the internet shortcut, and still doesn't.

I take back my previous post. It does work. I followed the path under the default user and found the startup as listed in Method 2. Thank you for helping solve this problem.
