The gadget is working fine on my system. If you have a 3rd party firewall or AV program installed, then you might check to see if it may be blocking the gadget.

How does the default "Calendar" gadget that came with Windows 7 work for you?

You might temporarily uninstall it just to see how the gadget works afterwards.

Do you have a 3rd party firewall program installed?

If so then double check to make sure that the gadget is allowed.

Hello eveyone, i have tried all the other fixes the only one that worked was deleting the zones key, but the calendar gadget and weather gadget still dont work all other gadgets are working, please has anyone got any other fix.

Hello Jack, and welcome to Seven Forums.

As a test, you might see if turning off and on the "Windows Gadget Platform" may help reset it to work properly again.
