    In that case, you could do a system restore using a restore point (if available) dated when they did work properly.

    If that's not an available option, then you might consider doing a repair install.

    Thanks Brink this worked for me too. I didn't have to restart first they appeared straight away once the .bat file was run.
    Not sure why it happened in the first place so it may occur again but at least I now have a fix.

    Thanks a lot Brink, for the batch file!

    That worked for me too. My gadgets had disappeared, and couldn't activate or access any gadgets related menu. Had to do RightMouse > View > "Hide desktop gadgets" and then RightMouse > View > "Show desktop gadgets" after restart, and now all is OK again.
