Yes i did stop the service. When i right click on dwm, i dont have the take ownership thingy in the context menu. i tried to take ownership manually but didn't work. i was able to take ownership to the udwm.dll though.
Double check to make sure that you have taken ownership and gave yourself full permission of the file. If you did, then try it in Safe Mode.
Like others the registry entry ColorizationGlassReflectionIntensity ceased to work after a release of W7 (I forgot which one). Well I've been on the RTM for some time and at some point my caption bar became free of those diagonal stripes. DWM is from the RTM not a previous version.
I recall that I tried back then adding the reg entry to no avail. However at some point my caption bar became clear. I didn't notice it until some time later.
The other day I went into Personalize and all of a sudden the 'stripes' came back. The Reg entry was a 50 which is/was the default. I changed it back to zero, rebooted, but no change.
I then selected the basic windows theme and viola the 'stripes' are gone again.
So it's possible that adding the reg entry and changing to the basic theme will do the trick. You can then use your Aero theme again.
Maybe this is particular to me. Your mileage might vary.
Unfortunately it doesn't work for the Taskbar! The full transparency i mean, it'll removed the gradient, just not make it anymore "invisible."
Hello Egydarceyes,
Yeah, having transparency turned on is required for this to work when you enable the tutorial. If you turn off transparency, you will need to undo the tutorial to prevent the border background blending effect.
