Problem with slipstream: The SP Integrator calls for the SP1 file to be in exe form; the only SP1 download I can find is in msi form, which the Integrator does not recognize.

If anyone has any suggestions re: hardware and where to buy, etc (I'm on a shoestring budget)... feel free to PM me to keep this thread from straying any further off topic than I've already taken it.
Macrium is a great program, it is intuitive, and once setup will work automatically if that is your desired outcome. I use it at several client sites, I love the "set it and forget it" ease! Create and setup a workable backup system for you... Depending on your data usage you need to set a periodic full backup and also periodic incremental backups. Example: Full backup on the first Sunday of each month, nightly incrementals. Macrium can even auto delete the older full and associated incremental backups if you want. Only one way to purchase Macrium that Im aware of, and thats straight from them in the U.K.

For hardware... Since you have a laptop, I agree that an external is the way to go... but check into a NAS if you have any other PC's. Some newer external HDDs can also connect via USB/Firewire/ESATA/Network.

A normal USB external HDD is only as good as you are about plugging it in and backing up.
If you have a NAS, whenever you are wirelessly connected to your network (lappy ON), your lappy can automatically connect and perform the backup at the scheduled day and time.

Thanks for the prompt response!

I am downloading all three of the exe files; will the SP1 Integrator know how to choose the correct one(s) from my desktop when I click its browse button?

Hello LovesTDance,

The link at step 8A (copied below) can help show you what version your current Windows 7 is to use the same SP1 version.

In you case, you should use the windows6.1-KB976932-X64.exe SP1 file.

8. .......
A) If you have not already, then you will need to download the same 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) Windows 7 SP1 EXE installation file for your same 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 7 installation DVD or ISO file at the Microsoft link below, and save it to your Desktop.

WINDOWS 7 HOME PREMIUM 64BIT

Hi

I'm trying to make a Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit version DVD with SP1 integrated into it. However, I am having problems getting the box that is showed in on the first page with the option to integrate a Service Pack Upgrade. I have copied the windows files to a folder on the hard drive and make an ISO file as well, but each time I try the option to integrate a Service Pack does not come up. Any ideas why its not showing?

Hi
This is the box that I am getting

Hello wizkid,

It looks you have downloaded and installed the RC 1.7.0 build of RT Seven Lite instead of the Beta 2.6.0 build. See the NOTE box under step 1 for more on this.

Man, reading this reminds me of my Nlite experiments

Problem with Slipstream is that if you remove or disable a service that is interconnected to another one, you might not notice it until you use the specific service tied to the removed one.

BE VERY CAREFUL IF YOU USE THE COMPONANTS REMOVAL SECTION. Take it from someone who has seen hours of work go down the tubes because I removed an important service.
