Kaboom... the resulting iso did not work. During setup of W7U in a VM it goes through nicely but after reboot I get a general error about something missing (damn, should have made a note of it) with no specific error code, telling me to restart the installation. Which I don't. Of course.

Something went wrong when slipping in the 153 updates. Grrr.
Have a look at this thread, you may have better success using his method,

    TEST -Update 7 installation media

Yup, seems like a good alternative. The WindowsUpdateDownloader gave two errors when downloading, but only that it could not find the updates.

    Hello sir,

This article is very useful and wonderful thought to help to slip stream . But I have doubts.
I am having retail dvd and when i tried to upgrade, i could not , because it informed that the system have a most recent version, than the dvd, so could not upgrade. So, i came to this forum and read the article which is exhaustive.
I have to slipstream the service pack updates for sp1 to resort to upgrade. In other words, my dvd should also contain the service pack slip streamed in to it , so that i can repair it without formatting or reinstalling altogether.
Out of the steps, in the article please say which are the steps , i have to follow . I downloaded the rti download and followed the instructions, and when i had done the loading image stage, i had a doubt, to which are all the steps to follow.
I have also downloaded the service pack updates from microsoft as per your instructions, and after that what to do to have it. You mean some windows spl.exe as done in the 1st instructions. where and how to find and further actions, Please tell me sir,
All actions after creating image for me may kindly be explained, by giving the exact number in the instructions, for which act of kindness, i will ever be grateful to you, sirs

    Hello Jraju,

If you like, you could download and use a Windows 7 w/SP1 U ISO with a lot of the updates already included from: Microsoft: Windows 7 Direct Download Links

If suppose, I do not want these and to slip stream only the service pack, what should i do sir.
Moreover, some of the updates i enabled already including service pack update, which i could not delete.(there is no option in the program and features menu for this particular item) which is in the system, like security updates, should that also be slipstreamed if i want to repair my computer. I have lots of programs ,which will get erased during reinstall. So, I want to repair after slipstreaming. On the other day, you have given instructions on sfc.
My main aim is to repair the corrupted system and registry files.
If reinstall is the only option, How to reinstall the os thro installation dvd, over the existing one. when i try the upgrade, my os was shown in some other local drive than the one , ie c: It shows, the other drive G: So, should i change the path to overwrite the existing windows.Otherwise, there will be problem of installing the OS in two drives. Please advise on these points.

You could do a repair install, but you'll still most likely need the latest Windows 7 w/SP1 U ISO to create a bootable DVD/USB with to be able to do so.

I'm trying to build a Win7 SP1 slipstream without updates so I follow the steps to 11B and then 12F and then 12G. So presumably, after I click ISO-bootable on 11A, the next screen I see should be the one in 12G, but I never see it. The next screen that comes up is 15A. So the integration step is missed out apparently and I don't know if I have a Win7 ISO or Win7 + SP1 ISO. Can anyone help?

Hello Klempie, and welcome to Seven Forums.

If you just wanted a Window 7 ISO w/SP1 included, then you could just download an official one at the link below instead if you like. :)

LOL Thanks Brink. Quick question. If I use this SP1 iso to repair an installation that is SP1 plus later updates will there be conflicts due to the fact that I'm repairing a later "version" of SP1 (i.e. on with updates) with the no-update SP1?
