Did you create the slipstreamed SP1 ISO as in the tutorial and not any other method?
When you got to step 12, did you add a new Windows Update MSU file before clicking on "Apply"? This must be done for it to work.
Here are some screenshots of what I have below. The slipstream SP1 ISO is of Windows 7 Ultimate created first in the tutorial. Next, as an example, I added the (KB2488113) MSU to be integrated (applied) with "rebuild all images", etc....
I used this new all-in-one slipstream SP1 ISO, and selected Home Premium to install. Each Windows 7 edition showed as SP1 though.
