I created the installation DVD referenced above, as per the tutorial I found on this site. Now when I try to use it as an upgrade install it refuses to run. The error message states it won't run because the installed version is newer than the upgrade version.
I'm trying to do an upgrade so that I won't have to reinstall all my programs, settings, etc.
Is there a way around this to accomplish what I want?
Thanks for any help you can supply.

Hello Massezac, and welcome to Seven Forums.
Sorry, but a slipstream installation disc cannot be used to do a repair install (inplace upgrade) with. It just will not work because it will always give the same error you got. See the yellow TIP box at the top of the tutorial for more details.
Thanks for the quick response. I reread the yellow box at the beginning of the tutorial and now I understand.
Thank you, massezac
You're welcome. If you were wanting to do a repair install, then you might see if the note box under step 5 in the tutorial below may help. :)
Repair Install
Brink,
thank you for taking the time to give me another alternative. I followed the last tutorial and it worked like a charm.
Again, thank you.
sincerely, massezac

I've hit a wall in following this tutorial:
I was given a bootable USB with windows 7 ultimate... uhm.. it doesn't say how many bits?
I searched google but all I could find was how to find how many bits i'm currently running.
Not what i'm looking for.
(how do they manage to make a 4 minute video out of rightclicking computer and clicking properties?)
How do I find out the amount of bits this USB will install? It's not in the filename of the exe inside, nor it's properties.
Hello Bos,
About the only way you can tell is by how much space is used on the USB by the installation files.
32-bit Windows 7 w/SP1 = around 2.4 GB
64-bit Windows 7 w/SP1 = around 3.1 GB
Hope this helps, :)
