If you have the monitor on the OS you are doing this from, when you open diskpart it will see it, if I understand correctly. You have to do this from an elevated command prompt. (press the start button, type cmd in the search box, RIGHT CLICK on the cmd entry, and select run as administrator.

Okay I did just hook the monitor up now it's just a duplicate display though
I do indeed intend to install an os on the ssd as a clean install no transferring of the old os even though I do have a windows made image but no recovery disk was made at that time unfortunately otherwise the issue wouldn't be an issue

I'll give it a go,
Worst case how do I get the monitor disk to load once I put the ssd back in the desktop case ?

I'm also assuming after using cmd to do diskpart I put the ssd back into the desktop tower ?

If you are doing a clean install, Windows should load the driver for you. If you are doing a clean install, just put the SSD in the laptop and boot to the installation disk. The installer will see the SSD.

Also, on, I think the second screen, you can click repair my computer in the bottom left and click through to recovery options and restore the Windows System image from the installation disk. The installation disk can do anything the recovery disk can do and more.

If you are doing a clean install yes, connect it to port 0 or 1, disconnect all other drives except the SSD and boot into the installation disk.

There is no way the SSD had anything to do with the monitor going out.

dvd no good I guess I'll have to use rufus and download the ios
Looks like the issue was the video card needed to be removed so the on board graphics would work
