Ve-r-r-r-y interesting stuff Jeanine and Wolfgang talk about. First, I'm also afflicted with leg cramps that can pop me out of a very sound sleep. I use salt and take Calcium+Vitamin D tabs every day and it helps a lot unless I walk too much or climb up and down a ladder. I'm a very senior experienced geek too.

Jeanine, I like the transfer case you modded, and the notes to yourself, something I would need if I travelled.
I wonder why the alignment is like that though instead of 1024K? I saw another one similar here, Show us your SSD performance 2 and asked if Wolfgang could speak to it.

Yesterday I used Magician for the first time in a couple of weeks and there is a new version of it, 4.3 I think, plus new 840EVO firmware in my case. It supports Rapid mode in the 840 Pro and other Samsung SSDs now. :)

Gary, the funny alignment of my M4 is a long story. One day I discovered that the thing was not aligned - who knows why. Rather than going thru a long procedure following my own tutorial (LOL), I took the shortcut. I defined a mini partition in front of C with Partition Wizard bootable CD. That did the trick. I lost a few bytes on the SSD because the PW slider is not that precise - but so what.

I see, just having the mini partition made the alignment OK?

It's Jeannie, not Jeanine (don't feel bad; everyone messes my name up)

My calcium levels are OK. Although I will see my doctor early next year but his assistant called to say my Vitamin was low (should have been no less than 30 and it was 23) and he had sent a prescription to my pharmacy. I'll have to go back to get it checked again in three months. I have to clear any OTC meds I take with my doctor because of all the prescription meds I'm on.

Here is a link for the 3.5" version and the 2.5" version. There is another 3.5" version that is the same size as the 2.5" version but it doesn't have near the padding the bigger one does. The foam in the cases is not antistatic so it is necessary to keep the drives in antistatic sleeves (I have links for those if you need them). Also, this outfit doesn't charge a flat shipping rate for each one so, if you want to eventually get several of them, it's cheaper to order them all at once than one at a time.

The idea is for the number that shows up to be evenly divisible by 1024 (in this case, it comes out to 201). What I like about AS SSD is, if the alignment is off, it will spell it out instead of me having to do the math (yeah, I'm lazy).

The new one is what I used to check my new SSD. I haven't bothered to upgrade the one on my desktop yet.

Has to be only divisible by 4. E.g and alignment of 64 works too.

Oopsie. I stand...er...sit corrected. I'll just let AS SSD do the work for me.

I think the alignment shown on my OS SSD is due to the fact that I have a 205 MB system reserved partition in front of the OS partition.

Sorry Jeannie, I know I typed Jeannie but it came out as Jeanine, I need a new keyboard, it often types "form" when I input "from".

Don't feel bad; one of my closest friends called me Jenny for five years before she got the memo. And I do the same thing with form and from. And fro and for.

I have a question about Paragon Migrate OS to SSD!
does it transfer the recovery partition?
(I mean the hidden partition containing windows files and manufacture data which is about 20GB in my laptop)
and will the "recovery consule" work after Migration?

The Acronis True Image suggests a long procedure for this job and says it is not working with its migration tool!
"If your system hard disk also contains a hidden recovery or diagnostic partition, as is quite often the case with notebooks, the procedure will differ. You will usually need to resize the partitions manually during recovery to the SSD. For instructions see Recovering a disk with a hidden partition"
