okay I haven't done anything but turn off scheduled defragment and hibernation but only did it via pos=wer settings which I've always done in the past except for turning off defrag that's new

Can I run the clean system files Disk cleanup feature to remove out dated windows updates ?

That's right, but it works. Just look at what it's cleaning out. You can select what to clean and what not to.

There are many programs that are much better than what you get from Microsoft - CCleaner is one of them.

I'll pass on ccleaner but thanks for all of the help guys,
Keeping in mind I only have one browser ie10 and I'll stick to what has worked in the past on that one :)
    Cheers.

CCleaner is not a browser, it's a utility that serves a lot of purposes.

Also, to check the alignment, from the Tutorial by WHS

    Diskpart
    List disk
    Select disk n
    List partition

Yours will not come out to 1024, but as long as it is divisible by 4, it's good.

.One thing I always do. I get rid of the hiberfile. Saves some space on the SSD. The command is powercfg -h off
Doing so will also reduce writes to the SSD (never a bad thing). However, it will also disable hibernation. In my case, I need hibernation enabled since my UPS uses it to safely shut down my PC without losing any work when there is a power outage.

I've had nothing but problems with it. Apparently, I'm not savvy enough to safely use it.

    Steve I love you man,
But did you just say "ccleaner is not a browser" buddy ?
No kidding but ccleaner cleans browser left overs as far as I know which I know full well how to do that within windows and browser settings :)

Can we agree to disagree on this one item

    UPS :/
I set it to turn off after 10 minutes or 40% battery level I figure 10 minutes is plenty of time to manually save anything and shut down myself
