    mmc.exe file corrupted


    I have run sfc /scannow 4 times and each time the results are the same. The log says the file and its' backup are corrupted.

    I am running Windows 7 Professional 64-bit on a Dell Inspiron 620 with 6 mb of ram.

    The sfcdetails.txt file is attached.

    I will appreciate your guidance as to what I now need to do.

    Your SFC details show that the file below has a hash mismatch. You can see if any of the options in the blue note box under step 4 in OPTION TWO may help.

    Very slow 45 min Boot


    have run 4 times SFC and keeps finding errors. Can you help me determine what to do?

    Uprgraded from win 7 Pro x64 to Win 10 Pro 10 days ago,, firts week startup was perfect, then something happend, an upgrade or externar program, don't know.

    Alse have read in other forums to run
    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Scanhealth
    • Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
    • DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
    • Dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-Image /startComponentCleanup

    Also found some errors, but didn't know what to do..

    Brink - I have many many many ntsf error messages after each reboot of Win 7 Pro 64-bit. (If you want to see how that started, check out Almost FORCED to update to Win 10 ??? NO!!! Help !!! .)

    Just now, in Win 7, I ran sfc /verifyonly and the CBS log reports errors. (And there seem to be amazingly long CBS "persist" .cab logs in the same folder from the past few days that I have not opened up.)

    Question: If I run sfc /scannow, is there a downside? Could it wreck my Win 7? (Not the end of the world because I really haven't started using it yet. Worst case, I could reinstall, even if it takes a whole weekend. But another lost weekend)
    Important detail: My Dell Optiplex 7010 Desktop is now dual-booting Win 7 Pro 64-bit and Win 10 Pro 64-bit. (I got the Win 10 by letting my Win 8.1 upgrade, then re-installed the Win 10 from a media creation USB.) The Win 10 seems to be working OK and I want to keep the dual-booting. Does that change your thinking?

    A sfc /scannow command will not affect anything other than repairing corrupted or modified system files.

I have run System File Checker (sfc) and it found many files that were corrupt and could not be repaired. My PC appears to be running fine - but I am anal about repairing anything that is wrong on my PC. The only suggestion I've received so far was to perform a Repair Install. That's very risky....

I have just completed a System File Check and some repairs were done I was told that the relevant report could be seen at C:\WINDOWS\LOGS\CBS\CBS.LOG. When I Clicked on that I got Access Denied How can I Open that log file? I am the Administrator
