I am having the "Windows Explorer has stopped working" problem. Tried all the recommended solutions to no avail. Ran sfc \scannow and got the message that some files could not be repaired. Moved the sfcdetails to my desktop per instructions but I get "Access denied" message when try to access the file. I am running Windows 7 in Administrator Mode. Any suggestions?

You can use OPTION THREE in the tutorial on the first page to create a sfcdetails.txt file to only see the SFC results. :)

Thanks again. Here is a portion of the sfcdetails.txt showing errors. How do I interpret it and repair?

From the Microsoft link below, you're not alone with this "Api-ms-win-downlevel-version-l1-1-0.dll" file issue.

Considering your other issues, you might see if doing a system restore at boot using a restore point dated before you had all these issues may help.

Thanks for all your help After reading about and researching the "Api-ms-win-downlevel-version-l1-1-0.dll" file issues, I think I will live with it until I upgrade to Windows 10. Also, I think I have had this problem for several months and don't know which restore point to choose. Hopefully MS will address this issue since it appears they are at fault. Thanks again
