I did my first install of Win7 ultimate x64 without reading at the forum first. Not always the best idea but I do have a lot of experience.

I just selected custom install and deleted all partitions and repartitioned normaly. It installed ultimate automaticly. I entered no product key when asked.

After install I opened the system window(right click on computer and selected properties). Then I opened the change product key link at the bottom. I put in the PC and activated.

    I was done.

It really worked and it kinda freaked me out that it did.

Saved 100 bucks on a full install disk.

    Shawn,

Thanks for this great tutorial for installing Dubya 7. The install was pretty much self-explanatory, but your tips helped. Now to configure 7 to suit my needs. I timed it and with my delays reading your tips, it only took about 6 minutes.

Explorer saw and executed my my Vista files just fine with no need to change anything but logins and passwords.

A lot of learning to do, but so far, 7 has left a wet spot in my shorts.

    Hello SEGA,

No problem. Correct, but I would activate it after the installation is finished though.

Hello Matt, and welcome to Seven Forums.

There's no need to reinstall again. The tutorial below will help show you how to removed the Windows.old folder so that it will be like a clean install.

    Windows.old Folder - Delete

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Browse the windows.old folders for any documents, pictures, music files, etc .. Once you have, you may delete it, and you will have the same thing as a true clean install..
