At step 8, I just highlighted the partition and clicked 'delete' then clicked next. The result is the same as far as I can tell.

Hello ElBeasto, and welcome to Seven Forums.

True, the end results will most likely be the same, but the actions are different.

Deleting the partition will leave it as a blank unallocated partition, but Windows 7 will format it during the installation anyway.

They often recommend that after installation is finished you do the following in order:

1. install chipset drivers
2. install all other drivers
3. install anti virus and/or firewall
4. install your software
5. disk cleanup
6. defrag

other optional extras could include

a. relocate pagefile
b. relocate indexing database
c. change power profile to taste
d. relocate where IE stores its cache files

Thanks Brink, yeah I figured it would either do it automatically or spit out an info dialog saying you have to create at least one partition etc... :)

Out of curiosity, if you click format, does it give you the quick format option?
