Either your HDD is corrupted or dead/dying. Since you have a Windows 7 installation disc, running a "clean all" command on the HDD while in another computer may be able to let you install Windows 7 afterwards once back in your laptop. If not, then the drive may be toast.

Thank you for all your help so far I appreciate it, but my father took my laptop to his shop/work where "an expert" is going to try to fix it, probably by cleaning up the hard drive like you told me too. If he cant than I will but again thanks for the help.

I just got the update that the hard drive was going bad, it was just about dead and we are ordering a new one from new egg. But once again thanks for the help.

I was afraid of that, and was hoping that it may have just been corrupted where a "clean all" command could have fixed.

Are you getting a new fast SSD for it?

I was thinking about that so the hard drives life would be longer and all but we ended purchasing nice little 320gb sata at 7200rpm 3.0gb per second for about 55 bucks and I'm pretty happy with that. But when I get a new desktop it will have a SSD for sure .

what does it mean to install all the device drivers? Is that included in the Windows 7 installation package or is it something I should look for online? Would I be able to do anything without the device drivers?
