Changed USB selective settings to disabled.
This is a PC not a laptop.
The Drivers for the Modem are the latest available from Conextant
Modem is Conextant USB CX93020 ACF Modem. Bought this year, no date of manufacture, but listed as compatable with W 7.
Tried the Modem in all 7 USB ports and all other USB devices work properly (ICY Box, Keybord/WirelessMouse/Flash Drive.) Not tried a printer yet.

    Thank you so far.

Sorry to report that the above suggestion did not work. The modem had to be disconnected after Sleep. I wonder if it is trying to download a Fax when it restarts rather than connect to my ISP?

    Damn

Sorry to hear it hasn't been resolved. There are a few more things I could suggest but I doubt they will resolve your problem.

Best you can do is contact the vendor of the modem and hope someone gets back to you. Perhaps they can give you more specific information with the modem. I use a router so I'm not too familiar with that hardware, though it shouldn't be doing what it's doing.

Good luck, sorry I couldn't help. Lets us know if you come right and what the problem was.

Thank-you for taking the trouble. I will report on future developments if any.
Only thing we can see is that before Dialling properly the message "Opening port" flashes up briefly, but this does not happen afer Sleep.

Hi, is it a DSL Connection?
Try using the connection in safe mode with networking to see if it gets disconnected.
Also, try releasing and renewing the IP address.
Let me know if it works. :)

make sure you have typed the product key correctly. If needed, contact Microsoft if its a genuine MS Windows 7 copy. :)

    Zonealarm incompatibility

    Hi
Really hope someone can help me

    Windows 7 64bit.
Tested in Opera 10, Chrome, IE8, Firefox 3.5
I can ping any address on my workgroup
I can ping my router (default gateway) but the first packet always takes much longer than the other sent packets e.g first packet takes 48ms and the rest only take 2ms

I cannot ping my own IP address
Removing Avast, ZoneAlarm and disabling Windows Firewall make no difference
    Flushed DNS doesn't work

Web browsers perform slow and often don't load, I have to refresh or come back later
Downloads time out after a few minutes
I have to use a download manager to get files larger than a few megs
My IP Address is manually configured and DNS settings were provided by my service provider.

Been at this for a few days without luck and really don't want to reformat. Any help will really be appreciated

    Thanks
Just you let you know, I could not ping localhost successfully as well, always packet loss between 50% and 100%. However, pinging my router, pinging with IPv6 (ping localhost -6) worked fine. Internet access worked, but not really speedy.

Disabling Windows firewall and Zonelarm (Free) Firewall did not solve the problem, but uninstalling did.

It is one week ago I downloaded it, seems they have still issues here.

I also noticed the debug files in Windows/Internet Logs growing rapidly (200 MB / hour).

Somebody with a recommendation regarding a free firewall?

    Cheers,
    Dulli
