Go ahead and run the WinRAR installation file again to reinstall it on top of your existing one. This will act like a repair install. Afterwards, see if you have WinRAR archiver listed in Programs and Features.

Hello Skn, and welcome to Seven Forums.
The mkv file extension has been added. By default this is unassociated in Windows 7, so this the download will remove and unassociate the mkv file extension to not have a default program anymore. Hope this helps Shawn |

Thank you
Must just say a big THANK YOU to whoever posted this, as with the aid of somebody who knows much more about computers than I do, was directed to this posting to fix a seemingly unsurmountable problem I had with user error
![]() The download fixed the problem in the Registry and for that I am eternally grateful to all concerned. |

Hi again Shawn,
Just wanted to let you know I re-installed WinRaR and everything went perfectly. I have no clue why I had the problems originally. I did see a setting on the re-install that I ticked .. SETTINGS > Integration Tab > Shell Integration > Cascaded Context Menu (for some reason Cascaded Context Menu was un-ticked) Also, once re-installed the WinRaR SHORTCUT no longer has the Microsoft UAC emblem on it .. so guess the re-install fixed that too. Thanks so much for your patience and suggestions when dealing with folks like me who seem to be stumbling around in Windows 7. Have a GREAT Weekend ~!! ![]() |
