Hello Caomhin, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Sorry, but Windows 7 does not have support for the .indd to be opened by any program by default. However, you should be able to right click on a .indd file, and use Open with (click on link for more info) to select the InDesign CS6 program and check Always use the selected program to open this kind of file to do so though. :)

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

I did indeed try that, but when I open a .indd file through the Open With option, InDesign CS6 is not available in the list. When I browse to the path of the .exe of InDesigng CS6, then select it and click OK, after that the option for it is still not visible. Any solution for that issue?

Looking at the Adobe link below, they say to select this .exe file: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe InDesign CS4\InDesign.exe

File associations broken | Uninstall Adobe applications | Windows

Since you already tried through right click "Open with", you might give it a try through Default Programs.

I indeed tried to correct it with the Default Programs option in the Control Panel. Problem is, when I want to select the Indesing CS6 icon, it is not available in the list. When I Browse to the file I can select it, but after I click the Open button, I return to the "Choose the program you want to use to open the file:" window and the Indesign CS6 icon is not appearing. I also had this problem with Photoshop files, but I fixed that with your registry file.
Any other idea then to re-install the complete suite?

I'm not familiar with CS6's settings, but you might check through them to see if there is one to set it as the default program and if one specifically for that file extension.

Are you able to browse to and select the file to open it from within CS6?

Some programs have a repair install option when you run the installer again to install it on top of the current installation. You might see if that may be an option instead of complete uninstall/reinstall of the program.

I have completely de-installed the Suite and rebooted the machine. Then installed the Suite again and that solved the problem.
