Any of the ones at this link under the windows section will work fine,
Java Downloads for All Operating Systems
I run a 64bit system, so I hope that whichever you have to download will work either way.
Thanks,
Chris.

Ok Chris. Let's see how the .reg file below will work for you. It's to restore the default associations for .jav files for 64-bit Java version 7 update 51 (build 1.7.0_51-b13). :)
Hi Brink,
That's done it! It's removed the association completely, now I just have to find the right java program in the java folder, but once I do that, all should (hopefully [touch wood]) be fine.
Thanks for your help!
Chris
It should have also set the Java program as default. Go ahead and reinstall Java for it to repair it's installation and set the proper associations.
Brink,
It did reset the association, but I did have to reinstall it. Thanks so much, Brink.

Hi Brink,
Thanks for the tutorial. Unfortunately, this method worked for me for only one of two types of files I tried it on. I had associated a default program for opening and editing ico files, and I no longer see the actual files' thumbnails in Windows Explorer. Instead, I am getting the icon associated with the program, which makes it a lot more difficult to manage and edit the files. I tried merging the reg file, but it hasn't changed anything. Is there anything else I can try?
Thanks,
Ellen
Ellen, try setting the ico files back to their default. Then right clicking the one to edit/Open with.
Oops, my mistake. I downloaded the wrong reg key . . . When I realized that, I tried the correct one and it did work. Thanks again.
