Hello XiiravenZ, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

Windows doesn't have any associations for these file types by default. You should be able to do a system restore using a restore point dated before their associations got changed to restore them back to how they were when the restore point was created.

Hello Graheja, and welcome to Seven Forums.

To be able to open .rar files, you'll need to install a 3rd party program like the free 7-Zip that supports opening them. :)

Hello Rashad, and welcome to Seven Forums. :)

.AWW is not associated to open with a program by default in Windows. What were you wanting to associate it with, or did you want to unassociate it?

Here is my situation Brink, I made 2 files in Microsoft Word 2010, when I first made the 2 files they open in Microsoft Word 2010 the program I made them in with no problems. And the 2 files when first create did not have the .AWW file type for some reason now the 2 files are .AWW type and will not open in Microsoft Word 2010 the program I made them in. So, I’m just stuck and do not know what to do to get the data off of these 2 files. I'm not sure what to do but I uploaded you a picture so you can see what I am talking about in the picture.

The .AWW file extension is usually from the Ability Office productivity suite. AWW is similar to a Microsoft Word document and supports text, images and advanced page formatting. Ability Write can convert AWW files to Microsoft Word .DOCX and .DOC files.

Do you have Ability Office installed, and used it instead?

    Lost all exe associations.

    Howdy.

The resolution for my problem may be buried somewhere in this thread, but at 80+ pages...well, I apologize if it is.

I attempted to install 'Yawcam' on an extra notebook I have. After d/l from their site (Yawcam - Download) I ran their exe file (have G-Data antivirus installed). Immediately after clicking, I noticed all files ending in exe were now associated with Java. Attempting to open any file ending in exe launched Java (very brief flash of the Java console).

I uninstalled Java then rebooted, hoping that the system would restore the associations, but that didn't work. After looking about on the web, I've tried launching a cmd prompt and regedit, but they won't open either. Looking at the control panel option of associating files, I see no option for exe files.

I suspect I will be reinstalling the OS, but wanted to check here in case there's another way.

    Thanks
