    By default, the .rar file type is not associated to open with any app.

    If you like, you can download and merge the .reg file below to unassociate .rar files.

    Unassociate_rar.reg

    @f23948,

    If you want to have a different app to open .rar files, you should be able to right click on a .rar file, click on Open with, and set an app to always open it.

    Open With - Change Default Program

    If you didn't want any program set to always open .rar files, then the .reg file I posted above will unassociate .rar files for you.
