I thought the issue was viewing an animation ...
I didn't realize they were having an issue with a cursor.

Another reason I need to keep my thoughts to myself.

Brink, I hope you are still monitoring this after two years. I had a virus masquerading as an AV. After using c cleaner, my real AV was able to get rid of it, but apparently I checked too many boxes on the c cleaner menu because all (as in ALLLLLL) my file associations are gone. Sorry for shouting. Anything, anything I try to open results in the "and what would I open that file with, hmmm?" box. For some programs I installed I go into the program file and tell it to open with that file. Which it does--once. The check box to allow that program to be the default is grayed out.
I tried following your instructions for downloading the zipped files and merging the .reg file, tried logging out, then tried restarting. That did not fix the problem. Did you mean that I need to go through the unzipped files (why is unzipping working?) and merge or change or edit each one individually? Do I have to do each and every one and if not, how do I know which ones to do?

Thanks for these reg files.

Some of my image file associations got messed up after uninstalling PaintShop Pro X3 and right clicking an image and selecting 'Open With' Windows Photo Viewer as the default didn't work, but now they are back to Windows Photo Viewer.

Guys, I'll be honesty with you I'm 13 I got a new pc for x-mas and messed up my registry big time and could not have fixed it without you all. I just want to thank you all so much for this. I had to make an account just to express my gratitude thanks soooooo muchhhhh!

The ZIP file is just a collections of all of the listed file extension links below it put together in a ZIP file.

By default, .cr2 is not a supported file extension and is not associated to open with anything in Windows 7. This is why it's not listed since it's not listed in Windows 7 by default.

It's only added when you save or create a file with that extension, and is only associated to open with a program when you install a program that supports opening that file extension.

Unable to associate file type to upgraded version of a program

Yes, of course, Sean. The cr2 extension was added when I downloaded the Canon software and it was associated with that program, then with DxO because it supports that file type. The problem occurred when I downloaded a new version and the computer only recognized the old version, which is a different program. I uninstalled both but a registry item still existed for the old program. I modified that command, just changing the folder DxOOpticsPro v6 to DxOOpticsProv7 and everything worked as it should. Don't really understand why but I'm happy.
