Finally, after looking through whole internet I've found this tutorial.

I had problem with .pdf and .docx. I downloaded .reg for .pdf and edited it to suit .docx files by changing 3 lines in .pdf reg file. Simple and works perfectly.

    Thanks, Brink.

    Hi Brink.

I think you need to add SYS or "System File" extension to your list of Default file extension type associations.

I'm recently fixing my cousin's HP pavilion dv6648se laptop with Win7 Home premium 32bit and some of the file type associations are messed up, including the DLL and SYS file types. the DLL & SYS file types seem to be opening up in Adobe Acrobat Reader DC as default, which is incorrect and I need to reset them or "un-associate" them from Adobe.

    Hello,
I'd be very grateful if you could add the CRL file extension to your list so that it is available for restoring to default.
    With thanks in advance,

    Hi Brink,

there seems to be an error in the .reg file for ps1:

Line 46 says [-HKEY_CLASSES_ROOTS\SystemFileAssociations\.ps1] (note the superfluous 'S' in ROOTS).

Since it seems to work without this, maybe deleting the key at all is superfluous :)
(The key HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\SystemFileAssociations\.ps1 doesn't even exist for me, even though I changed the default file association.)

    HTH
