What about trying to merge the .reg file in Safe Mode?

    Davey,

You may be able to save the extracted Default_exe.reg file to your desktop and use Method Two in OPTION TWO of the tutorial below with the command below to merge the REG file at boot. Subsitute User-Name in the command with your actual user account name, and substitute C in the command below for what your Windows 7 drive letter shows as in the tutorial.

    regedit /s C:\Users\User-Name\Desktop\Default_exe.reg

    Registry - Backup and Restore

Afterwards, you may be able to merge the other REG files normally in Windows 7.

    Hope this helps,
    Shawn

Thanks, Shawn. This did work. But there is an additional wrinkle when you are trying to restore the "extract all" command. The "zip" file saved comes up with the extension ".download" which, of course, is not recognized, so that has to be renamed ".reg". Then it works. Thanks so much again. FSM
