You haven't put your system specs in.

If you have an oem machine - that is quite common.

You should have the system recovery options on the oem recovery discs you can run off.

Windows 7 64-bit

I do have a system recovery disk that came with the computer. At first I was thinking that the recovery disk that I would make on my machine would be customized with my drivers and my Windows updates - but I realize now that it would have no more capability than the one originally supplied, Thank you all.

64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Hello thugishangel,

Sorry, but not as far as I know.

If you have a Windows 7 retail installation disc, then it can also be used as a system repair disc.

Windows 7 Home 32bit
How to determine which Windows 7

I am working on repairing a Laptop for a friend. Does anyone know how to determine which Windows 7 has been installed when I cannot get Windows to start? The Windows COA sticker just says Windows 7 Home, but does not specify 32bit or 64bit. I have my own System Repair disk 32bit or I can make/borrow a System Repair 64bit, I just don't know which one I need to use.

64-bit Windows 10 Pro

Hello Rick, and welcome to Seven Forums.

To be safe, I would have a separate System Repair Disc created for both 32-bit and 64-bit to have handy.

If it's the wrong one, you'll find out real quick when it gives you an error that you say "cannot use a 64-bit disc on a 32-bit OS" type error or vice versa. It will not hurt anything. You'll just then need to switch discs and start over.

Hope this helps,

Win 7 Home premium 64

Recovery disks that came with my laptop (4 total) useless, unless I want to re-install win 7 or copy all files and return to factory defaults.

Needed to fix my MBR, after deleting another OS. Scoured web, could only find stuff I'd have to pay for (like you said, I already own this copy)...

So thankful I found this!

I signed up, because I found another thread on here about getting the partitions sorted out.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!!!
