Hello Scorzeze,
Yes, you sure can. :)
Do note that this disk will not be able to reinstall Windows 7, but only boot to the "System Recovery Options" screen instead.

thanks for the quick reply brink.
it turns out that the dell laptop is running win 7 pro 32bit and the other home. is this a problem or should i seek out another one that has home version installed?.
reason i ask is because i have a problem accessing the system recovery through the normal route.what i get is a disk read error when i boot so will the repair disk solve this?
Before going through the proper avenue of OS Repair, I wanted to clarify a few things first.
First of all, my situation. My OEM Laptop displays the error on the bootup screen "Error loading operating system" or something to that effect. So naturally, I came here for solutions as to repair Win 7.
That said, I am in contact with a friend that is allowing me to create a repair disc on his OEM Laptop which also has Win 7 x64. So this means that he must download the proper ISO files, correct?
Secondly, using the repair disc will not cause me to lose my data, files, documents, etc, will it?
a response will be greatly appreciated.
Hello Lucas, and welcome to Seven Forums.
If using the method in the tutorial doesn't work for you to create a System Repair Disc with, then you could also download a Windows 7 ISO to create a bootable DVD/USB to use to boot to "System Recovery Options" instead.
Once created, it sounds like you need to run a startup repair.
Hope this helps, :)
Shawn
Thanks Shawn. We'll find out if it works tomorrow, and will update accordingly.
And this won't harm the files, programs, documents, etc I have saved to my HD will it?
You're welcome.
A startup repair shouldn't affect them.
As always, you should back up anything that you do not want to lose first just to be safe though. If need be, you could use this tutorial below to back up your files with.

I do have backup disks, it's just that they aren't as updated as I'd like them to be. I have a series of important work and school related documents that I have only recently added in the past month or so, so they aren't on the backup disks. They are the primary reason why I asked about the possibility of file loss, as they are vital.
Thanks again for helping me out.
Oh, and the System Repair Disk will not harm my files either, will it?
It really depends on what you do from the "System Recovery Options" screen when you boot to it with your system repair disc for if it will affect your files or not.
A Startup Repair shouldn't affect them.
A System Restore could, but not likely if they are saved in your user folder.
A Windows Complete PC Recovery (System Image Recovery) most definitely would affect them.
