Thanks for the reply. Attached is the requested image. It's in Spanish but I believe the information is clear. Once it is clear that Windows 7 is booting up properly I plan to remove the HDD with XP.

It looks like Win7 is booting itself okay but XP should not be marked Active, so if you're done with XP you can wipe the HD using Diskpart Clean Command, or if you want to keep it then to run it with Win7 I would mark the XP Partition - Mark as Inactive - Windows 7 Forums.

Then follow the steps above to remove the duplicate OS listing.

Thanks for the reply. What I want do requires a much simpler solution IMHO. As I mentioned, I plan to remove the HDD with XP once I am confident that Win7 is booting properly.

Questions:
1. Will removing the HDD with XP automatically eliminate the boot option screen and thus boot directly into Win7 Ç?
2. Will selecting skip the boot menu in EasyBCD> Edit boot menu>Delete (one of the Win7 entries) and then Skip the Boot Menu, Save the Settings, suffice ?



Trying to solve this from a remote computer otherwise I would just go ahead and do it.

I've given you exactly what has worked best in thousands of similar cases so what information tells you there is a simpler solution? You are at the top tech forums in web history.

To avoid future problems you want the BCD on Win7 edited to remove the Dual Boot listing if it remains after XP is unplugged which it likely will since its not even an XP listing but a duplicate Win7 listing you somehow created.

I've already told you Win7 can boot itself so unplug the other drive and complete the steps I gave you. If you intend to use XP drive again it is best to wipe it of boot code to avoid future problems even if its formatted or deleted.

When I tried steps 4 and 5, my computer got the infamous "Windows Boot Manager" error screen after rebooting and now my computer won't start. Not even F8 will work. Please help.

I have Windows 7 dual boot and XP on separate drives and I want to remove the dual boot. I need to remove the XP drive from my computer.

Could anyone help me on this very simple (I'm sure) issue?
I am stuck at the stage where I am trying to copy over the MBR into the Windows 7 partition (via EasyBCD).
The problem seems to be that the partition is only Logical and not Primary.

Can I just change the partition from Logical to Primary? (via EasyBCD) ???
