Clean Reinstall - Factory OEM Windows 7

If you have the old installer then you might want to use it to save downloading charges and time, then put up with an extra hour of updating to get caught up to SP1. It may hold it back for a day or more to sequence all interim updates first so that little is left of actual SP1 install from Updates.

Whichever you use follow the steps to get it perfect.

The comments I referenced are located in the reviewer's section of the file you sent me. I seen only 1 thru 5 of the reviewer's comments, and the two I referenced were, I think as I recall, the 2nd and 3rd reviewer's comments.

Thank you for this tutorial. I'm going to be using it to "upgrade" to the 64 bit version. My User profile is copying now, and as soon as I can get a pack of DVDs to burn the iso, I'm going to get moving.

Hi everyone, I have been given my friend's laptop to repair. Sadly, I believe that the HD is DOA.

HD Tune is flagging the drive as having a "RAW Read Rate Error" And it has quite a few bad sectors (Along with a "bootmgr" error) problem on bootup.

The laptop has a COA sticker on the bottom with a Windows 7 Home Premium OA on it. Will I be able to use one of the ISOs that are listed in the opening post to reinstall my friend's W7 for him, after I get a new drive? (and more importantly, which on do I use?)

Assuming he has 64-bit English Home Premium, you need X17-58997.iso

I have checked on the Samsung website, and the laptop is billed as being sold with the 64-bit version. So, I'm ok to use this ISO to reinstall his W7?

The Product Key sticker on the Samsung should confirm all you need to know.

If you don't have the Product Key, you cannot activate Windows.

You need the one I mentioned, assuming that is the version that matches the Product Key.

I knew I could do it that way, but if my Windows Product Key from the upgrade license would work with the downloaded ISO with SP 1 already installed on a USB stick it seems like it would be simpler and faster

Has anybody tried it and verified it doesn't work?

I can confirm that the upgrade disk key will work with downloaded Win 7/SP1 ISO download. Instead of using my upgrade disk which did not have SP1 preinstalled, I downloaded the ISO with SP 1 preinstalled and built a bootable USB to install a clean windows using option 3 in:
