Immediately after you get online, before Check For Updates to install all Important and Optional Updates. You can even do these simultaneously if you like multi-tasking.
Gregs right mate and me I have my security suite (I use Kaspersky) already to download from a stick which I keep downloaded with the usual programs I use - prior to doing a clean install.
So just get a stick before you set off and put the programs you usually like on the machine downloaded to the stick.
Just for example I have the Kaspersky, CCleaner, MBAM , Superantispyware , Macrium, HW Info and Partition Wizard ready to go from the stick. It saves on time and download capabilities especially if you have a slow broadband speed as I said while the Windows is going berserk with those updates
Great idea! Actually that is what I was thinking of doing and even had my stick ready to load up. I am also building a step by step approach to along with helpful links, keyes and passwords.
You can also create a batch installer using Ninite - Install or Update Multiple Apps at Once
as discussed in tutorial.
Hello Everyone.
I just bought a used HP, and i have a SSD harddrive that i would like to use for my windows and games install.
Is it possible to clean install widnows using the key on the sticker, on my ssd without using the recovery function, without any problems?
Yes, be sure to read the SPecial Note to HP Owners at the end.
Firstly, I'd like to thank Greg and the crew at Seven Forums for their accurate help and tutoring over the last few years.
I've had to re-install again this week due to my studies and my computer system being borked by crapware. I tried over the last 2 days to install W7P 64 with updates failing left, right and centre. Then I found this guide through some googling after having been a member here for a few years.
Anyway, followed the tutorial from Step 6 as I had original OEM converted to USB and had most of the other installers I wanted. Steps 6 and 7 have been followed to the letter and 231 updates installed successfully if a little slowly, with only one failed (which was a redundant IE8 compatibility view update).
Now I have a baseline install, thanks again gurus :)from Step 6 said:
Edit: Exactly what I am doing with Reflect :)

Thanks for the kind words. I know that Greg would thank you too.
Greg's tutorials are very complete and used by thousands if not more.
Don't forget to make a nice clean backup of your new install.
Thanks for Greg and team to bring this tutorial for this forum.
@Greg , are your around in this forum?
I am looking for guidance on DISKMAP to provide efficient imaging/backup. I am leaning towards Win 7 64 bit clean install (long story).
Instead of duplicate posting here. I opened a thread Win 7: Black screen on boot up, before login screen (Clean Install)?, where I posted about present DISKMAP.
I welcome your input in evolving proposed DISKMAP for my clean install.
Thanks for sharing/helping.
