Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade designed for Windows Vista

Sorry for delayed reply - been sick.

My problem has changed since above question - after twice agreeing my Product Number, Microsoft is now saying it does not support the Product Number. I also suddenly noticed (!) that it states quite clearly that it is an OEM version - I must have been going down with the virus not to have noticed it before. The copy I made prior to asking the question was incomplete and following effort disappeared (they are only valid for a limited time). Mesh Computers are supposed to be sending me a copy but they are taking their time. If I don`t have any luck with them I will have to try to borrow from a friend.

I`ll come back again if I manage to get one ! Thanks for your help.

Windows 7 Home Premium Upgrade designed for Windows Vista

re: above not sure if this is right place to continue this discussion. I have found a System Recovery Disk my husband made for my computer 3 months after we purchased it from Mesh. If I carefully save my documents (already have backups going back a long way) could I use this instead of a reinstall do you think ? I have purchased a Windows 7 Pro update which I would like to use to update from the reinstall. Do you think this is likely to work ? I am happy to reinstall any programs I need but am a bit concerned about losing all my Windows Updates.

Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit

I followed this guide and installed Windows 7 Home Premium on a SONY VAIO VPCF1190X laptop with a new WD 7200 rpm hard drive.

I have installed the Windows Updates and am at the drivers installation step. In the Device Manager, under Other Devices, there are two devices with a yellow exclamation, stating that the drivers for this device are not installed: Base System Device, which is the PCIe Memory Stick and Network Controller, which is the Atheros ar9287 PCI. There are no other exclamations.

The install supplied many of the official drivers, the NVIDIA driver for the display adapters, for example. Other devices, like the Network adapters, show generic drivers. Should I replace generic drivers with the official ones on the Sony eSupport site if they are working properly?

The function key doesn't work so I also need to follow the guide linked in the Sony Vaio Owners section.

I am uncertain which drivers to install and in what order. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes get all drivers from the manufacture except for NVidia get them from NVidia instead of windows updates hide those that show up or just let those updates sit and collect digital dust :)

Yep I agree with Thrash Zone and if you do like I do save them to a stick especially the LAN and WLAN ones because without them no net no updates etc etc Always handy for the future too plus I personally save all the program downloads I regularly use like CCleaner, Macrium, my AV, prinetr ones etc etc I know these do update from when you download hem but not often at least you get the link

Win7 Home Premium 64-bit

Thanks once again for this tutorial. I've done quite a few clean installs, but not often enough to remember from one time to the next all of the details. My mom will be so happy to have Win7 instead of Win10 on her new computer.

What is the make and model of the new computer? If it came with win10, you might need to install some drivers into win7.
