Ok have watched sort of understand it a bit more now. I just was thinking cautious out loud as the seller has been arguing with me re a COA sticker and nit being fully in sync with the partition stuff was suspicious he had done something . Yes I do get a bit paranoid in this day and age of scammers etc.

What is the reason he gives there is no COA sticker? Does he provide you with a Win7 disk and key or are you using your own?

He just tells me he does not have to attach a sticker - two of his quotes
That is not correct as COA is only present on Factory installed Windows 7 PC's, there are no COA on OEM or Windows 8 PC's as License resides in BIOS.. I have provided you ALL required information for your future installations.. There are NO MORE COA stickers on Windows 8 laptops, here is Microsoft forum:

& after that following another message from me -
We have provided you with your activation code before- that it your specific code for your PC, volume licensing does not have COA sticker as COA sticker ONLY comes with retail boxed version of the software, not OEM upgrade/downgrades.

Does the PC have Professional which offers Downgrade rights to WIn7? How does he say the key is attainable for Win7?

He didn't Greg but I think you might have summed it up with the quote you made in the thread by saying
"As to Windows 8, my understanding is that these no longer have COA stickers but activate via the BIOS, including Win8 Professional which has downgrade rights to Win7 Professional if you want that."

Thanks Greg, Great help.
I had to reload my OS on both PC's but what I miss the most is, I think, tweaks like things that over the months that were added to my content dropdowns in Win Explorer, like "preview". "Edit with", and others. Are these tweaks I may have picked up over the past year but did not save?
I know they are mostly from thing in the registry but do you have any suggestions of some good Tweaks for Windows 7?
Or can Tweaks be saved before reloads?

Most of that is personal taste, but I don't like anything that alters Win7 in any significant way because it is asking for problems.
Once you get your customizations set up and running and have tested over time to be not problematic, then you can save a backup image of that install so you never need to reinstall it all again. This is included in the tutorial. I lean toward keeping the image from just after install since there could be some level of "creeping corruption" in subsequent images, but you still have that option if you want to capture an install you've got just like you want it after time passes.

Thanks can you clarify a few points or point me to them......
I understand i can make an image of my OS partition/disk. I can either backup only the OS and settings or OS and Data.
The complete backup is going to take a huge disk or about the same size as the boot disk.
So If I decide OS only, According to Win 7, it will backup either of these and on disk AND DVDs.
If OS ONLY, can you guess how big for just the OS?
Do you know if windows will burn the backup on the new 50gb laser disc used for blu-ray like the BD-BE re-writable?

I would not put a System image on disks as there are too many chances it can go wrong. Save it to an external or another internal storage drive.
I also do not save data in an image as this is the point in moving data off of C to keep the image smaller. Back up data separately - easiest is dragging the User folders to your storage drive although you can automate it with Backup User and System Files
