needing help with windows 7 failure to boot

I am running windows 7 64 bit and having the same problem as the guy above. I ran the windows defender offline program and it found a lot of trojans.. Tracur was the name of most of them..11 of them to be exact. It still will not allow me to go into safe mode with command. It also will not let me get into startup repair. What step should I do next? Thank you!

Nicole, besides running Malwarebytes in Safe Mode if necessary, I would post up the exact infection in our Security forum where the top experts will help you combat it.

However a really serious infection can sometimes not be cleaned up so you may end up having to run Recovery or Clean Reinstall as given in the tutorial.

Can you run Malwarebytes, in Safe Mode if necessary, to generate a log? If not then post up in Security whatever you have noted of the infection Defender found, along with what you've done and are doing.

While you wait you can also google the infection to see how others have gotten rid of it, run those tools if possible in Safe Mode. There may be a tool which specializes in ridding it in FREE Bootable AntiVirus Rescue CDs Download List.

Once it stops showing up in repeated scans, you can proceed with the steps in Troubleshooting Windows 7 Failure to Boot to try to Start it by Repairing System files from REpair CD or DVD, running Startup Repair which automates dozens of repairs, etc. Everything you need to start it if it will start is in the tutorial, leading up to if necessary rescuiing your files to run Factory Recovery or Clean Reinstall.

I created the Windows Defender Offline bootable DVD since I could not get to Safe Mode with Networking. In the tut for running Defender, I'm told that I can choose for a Full Scan; however, I only have the option to perform a Quick Scan and I never saw Seven Forums' splash screens when booting from the CD after changing the order??

    Hello sbuxman,

When you boot with WDO, it will do a quick scan by default. Afterwards, you should be able to select to do a full scan as in step 4 of the STEP TWO section below.
Seven Forums is just a watermark in the splash screen screenshots in the tutorial. You will not actually see them on your computer at boot.

    Hope this helps some, :)

Helps a lot...and that's in fact what did happen, so I went with the Full Scan, which is just about to enter its third hour. I've already been prompted in the Quick Scan result that potentially unwanted or malicious software might exist on the system, so we'll see when the Full completes.

Results of the Windows Defender Offline Full Scan:

    Trojan:Win32/Dynamer!dtc Severe Active Remove
    Exploit:Java/CVE-2012-1723.AQT Severe Active Remove
    Trojan:Win32/Alureon Severe Active Remove

So do I now follow the instruction to remove them by clicking "Apply actions?" There's much larger Red Button in the window behind that says, "Clean PC." Do I click that after removing the infections?

    Thanks...waiting for your recommendations.
