Any reason why Allow Hybrid Sleep would not be an option? Under sleep I just have Sleep After and Allow wake timers

ok so your solution to sleep not waking is to just disable it? I dont really think that is a great fix.

This looks to be an old topic but I am having these same issues. When I manually put the computer to sleep, it will not start up. I have to wait for about 10 minutes and eventually it will start up with the power key with a black screen asking for safe more or start up normally.

Mine seems to be the possible result of conflicting antivirus. I had installed Ad-Aware for a college course and then realized there may have been a conflict with Microsoft Security Essentials. I then uninstalled Ad-Aware with Windows Uninstall. The problem is still there and have tried searching for leftovers and well as trying the suggestion on this post. I also had done some other temporary installs for the class which have also since been uninstalled. I have not wanted to resort to a restore point in few of losing a very important and time consuming install that I still need.

When I go to Advanced Settings>Sleep, I only get Allow wake timers as and option. It was set to Disable.

Is anyone still out there with some ideas?

same issue, windows freezes on waking up from sleep. Hard drives spin, monitors turn on, but everything is black (except for my mouse pointer, which moves around). Like a few other have mentioned, I also do not have the "Allow Hybrid Sleep" option under "Power Options." Just "Sleep after" and "Allow wake timers", so this fix won't work for me. Any other suggestions?
